Zsa Zsa Gabor's ludicrous life remains such until the possibly bitter end.

Zsa Zsa Gabor will get a laying on of hands from world famous televangelist Benny Hinn today ... before her upcoming "risky" surgery to remove a blood clot from her leg.

Atheists Know More About Religion than the Religious

Joys of Atheism

Atheists know more about religion than the believers. I'm sure most of the devout and faithful know little of - if anything - of the importance in the religion of Christianity of Constantine,

Augustine, Calvin, Luther or - probably - even St. Paul.

Almost half the Roman Catholics don't have any idea of what the church teaches happens during Mass.

Atheists and agnostics topped a survey of religious knowledge among Americans released on Tuesday by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

Can Atheists Win Emmys?

Joys of Atheism, Popular Culture

Given the horror and hostility the great majority feels toward those of us who don't share their most cherished delusion it seems a plausible explanation to me.

A panel of, like, 10 people watches one tape. If half of those people are religious, that probably eliminates me right there. A lot of people wouldn't vote for such an outspoken atheist, someone who made Religulous.

Jelena Momcilov : Magnetic

Pseudoscience

From that great scientific center, Serbia, comes report of young Jelena Momcilov who is astounding locals by an amazing ability to metal by personal magnetism alone.

The most astounding things happen in central Europe. Or in the imaginations of Central Europeans.

UFOs Don't Fly as Fast as They Once Flew

Extraterrestrials

A look back at the first wave of flying saucer mania.

Arnold’s report excited great interest and generated a wave of copycat sightings. Ted Bloecher collected some eight hundred and fifty-three reports from this 1947 craze. The reports exhaust the thesaurus of speed superlatives. Phrases include: fast, very fast, extremely fast, high speed, tremendous speed, terrific speed, great, incredible, inconceivable, rapid, swift, amazing speed. They hurtled, streaked, and flew like blue blazes. Fifty-three percent of the reports emphasize the speed of the objects seen.

Why have UFOs changed speed over the years?

UFO: Unbelievably Freakin' Obvious

Extraterrestrials

Miley Cyrus' dady - Billy - and brother - Trace - are going to expose the secrets of extraterrestrials on UFO: Unbelievably Freakin' Obvious on the Syfy channel.

Certainly as fine a pair of scientists as one could hope for. On Syfy.

This reminds me that when the cable channel started their most of their advertisers were psychics.

Remember when science fiction used to be associated with intelligence?

"Our audience craves authentic, compelling and informative storytelling that pushes the boundaries of our normal world,” said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming at Syfy. “It will be interesting to see what truth Billy Ray and Trace may discover.”

Theory of Relativity: anti-Christian, unBiblical!

Pseudoscience

TPM ran this almost a month ago but the entertainment value just doesn't flag.

Phyllis Schlafly's son Andy edits something called the Conservapedia. One of his contribution is a proof that the Theory of Relativity is wrong because it contradicts the Bible. At least the way Andy reads the Bible.

In other words, reading a theory about physics is correlated to a decrease in people's interest in reading the Bible, which means that it causes people to stop reading the Bible.

Schlafly also points to the Bible as a reason that Einstein's theory must be wrong: ...

Senegalese Daara Students Forced to Beg?

Islamic

Rports from Senegal that children in traditional Muslim schools are forced to beg and treated like slaves.

Some of the religious leaders -- known as marabouts -- make as much as $100,000 per year on the proceeds while cutting back hours in the classroom, according to the report.

ESP Tax

Parabnormal

A surprising - to me anyway - number of Americans consult with men and women who claim spiritual superpowers:

Regulating an industry that deems itself clairvoyant, has no standard education requirements and yet rakes in cash for revealing spiritual truths may itself be an act of faith. It also might make good economic sense: just over one in seven Americans consulted a psychic or fortune-teller in 2009, according to the Pew Forum for Religion and Public Life. That could be 30 million or more of us.

In the Crystal Ball: More Regulation for Psychics

The idea of regulating psychic profiteers is almost meaningless. None of them have ESP or the like. In effect they are all frauds. Even if some have also duped themselves.

But collecting fees and taxes from them seems like a fine idea.
